Inorganic Binder System: Cordis

Inorganic chemistry on a standard basis: Completely emission-free casting

On the road to sustainable, energy and resource efficient processes, strategic decisions increasingly focus on inorganic binder systems for the foundry industry, and economic aspects play a decisive role in this process.

Some years ago, Hüttenes-Albertus successfully introduced the inorganic Cordis binder, thereby establishing in the market both a high-volume coremaking line and a highly diversified production line.

Intensive research

Through intensive research and in close collaboration with our foundry partners, Hüttenes-Albertus has succeeded in developing a binder system that is comparable to the organic binders currently available on the market and, in addition, brings about significant advantages in terms of lower emission and increased productivity.

Economic advantages

Next to reducing emission, the benefits of inorganic binders for the foundries also include

  • short transit times
  • reduced manual labour
  • reduced energy costs
  • omission of costly plant technology for the prevention and/or reconditioning of air emissions
